The FBI’s Highway Serial Killings Initiative has linked over 850 murders to long-haul truckers. Ghost Hauler takes you inside the cab of one of them.
For decades, Stephen Van Olsen has driven America’s interstates, clean logbooks, polite small talk at truck stops, and a growing collection of teeth in his glovebox. He hides in plain sight while the ghosts of his victims ride shotgun, their voices growing louder with every mile.
Told entirely from the killer’s calm, methodical point of view, this is a psychological deep-dive with no heroes and no redemption arc. Perfect for fans of Thomas Harris, Jim Thompson, Donald Ray Pollock, and true-crime style killer narratives.
Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth, a standalone novel, is the second book in the Van Olsen psychological fiction series and the companion novel to The Hunter's Craft.
A companion album, Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth, Songs Inspired by the Novel, is available on major streaming platforms under the name Stephen Van Olsen.
For readers of: Thomas Harris, Jim Thompson, Donald Ray Pollock, and Willy Vlautin.

Stephen Van Olsen is the pen name of a writer working in the psychological crime tradition. His debut novel, The Hunter's Craft, introduced a first-person narrator whose voice was flat enough, declarative enough, and specific enough that early readers questioned whether the book was fiction at all. Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth continues that project: a long-haul trucker, a bag of teeth, a methodology that starts to come apart. Van Olsen does not give interviews, attend events, or confirm biographical details. Publication is through The Nikkie Group LLC. The work stands on its own.

Paperback. Etat : new. Paperback. Some men collect miles. Some men collect ghosts.Stephen Van Olsen collects teeth.Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth is the fictional confession of a long-haul truck driver and serial killer, told entirely in his own voice. Spanning nearly three decades and crisscrossing the American interstate system, each chapter is built around a single victim: identified only by name, location, and date, and the tooth Van Olsen extracts as a souvenir.Van Olsen is not a monster who hides behind charm. He is methodical, self-aware, and unsettlingly articulate. Raised on a failed Kansas wheat farm by a violent father and a church pianist mother, he inherited a .38 revolver with a single round still in the chamber and a hatred for unfinished business. The road gave him everything else: anonymity, movement, and an endless supply of people no one would slow down for.The kills are not gratuitous. Van Olsen selects them the way he selects the teeth: with care, with purpose, and with the understanding that you, the reader, came here to look. He knows why you opened the page. He is not going to let you pretend otherwise. As the body count climbs, so does the pressure. An FBI agent named Mara Holt begins connecting cases across state lines. A fellow trucker named Larry gets too close. And the voices Van Olsen calls the Choir, the accumulated dead who ride with him in the cab, grow louder with every mile.Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth is a psychological crime novel by Stephen Van Olsen, author of The Hunter's Craft. Spare, declarative, relentlessly paced. For readers who want to sit in the cab with the wrong kind of driver. Ghost Hauler: Fifty Teeth is Olsen's confession: a first-person account of a life lived between mile markers and murder, told in the cold, clinical voice of a man who collects human teeth the way other drivers collect logbook miles.
