Synopsis

You don’t drive back to New Orleans by accident.

Not after everything that happened.

Not after you told yourself you were done with it—done with the heat, the memories, the version of yourself you left behind.

And yet, somewhere between the long stretch of highway and the quiet hum of the engine, the past has a way of catching up.

Why I Drove Back to New Orleans Last Night is a reflective, emotionally charged story about memory, distance, and the pull of unfinished things. It’s about the places we try to outgrow—and the ones that never really let us go.

Set against the hazy backdrop of the Gulf South, this narrative unfolds in fragments of thought, feeling, and quiet realization. It explores the tension between who we were and who we’re trying to become, and what happens when those two versions collide.

This is not a story about a single night.

It’s about everything that led up to it—and everything that comes after.

For readers who enjoy introspective, atmospheric writing and stories that linger long after the last page, this is a journey worth taking.
