Society counts people out. Invisible to most of the world, but never invisible to God. This devotional was written to prove that.
And Yet, Still Free is more than a year of daily readings. Inside one book: 365 days of Scripture and reflection across five phases of transformation, eleven testimonies of survival and faith, four original pieces written from inside prison by the author's own daughter, six chapters that bridge the year to life after release, a 90-day action plan, and a verified resource directory for reentry.
The five phases trace the real emotional journey of incarceration: Shock and Surrender, Identity and Repentance, Growth in Confinement, Maturity and Calling, and The Finishing Work. Each entry pairs Scripture with an unflinching reflection, a prayer that serves as a starting point rather than a script, and one small, concrete step forward. It meets the reader in the shock, the fear, and the silence that gets loud at night, when the mail or phone calls don't come.
This devotional is for anyone who has ever been arrested or served time, and for anyone free in body but still trapped in mind, held by shame, addiction, or a past that won't let go. It also works as a companion for loved ones on the outside, a way to turn a five-minute call or a Sunday visit into something that lasts.
Author Leian T. Williams has spent twenty-seven years in the staffing industry serving this population, work she is now expanding into second-chance hiring initiatives built for returning citizens. When her own daughter was incarcerated, Scripture carried her through every call and visit, and that season became the foundation for this book. She now volunteers with nationally recognized prison ministry organizations, leads a weekly devotional group in Atlanta, and has piloted this material in jail Bible studies and church-based reentry groups long before publication.
No wall, no sentence, no shame can separate a person from the love of God. In whatever place you are reading this, you can still be free.

Leian T. Williams has spent twenty-seven years building a career in the staffing industry around this population, currently serving as a Director of Staffing Services and expanding her work into second-chance staffing initiatives and apprenticeship pathways built specifically for returning citizens. When her own daughter was incarcerated, Leian walked that sentence with her from the outside, daily calls, letters, visits, and shared Scripture that became the foundation for this book. She has organized toy drives for the children of incarcerated parents, served in employment ministries, and volunteers with nationally recognized prison ministry organizations. She leads a weekly devotional group and lives in metro Atlanta. And Yet, Still Free is her first book.
