Synopsis

Sundet Seitov's poetry collection is a powerful and deeply emotional journey through memory, homeland, loneliness, love, faith, and survival. Rooted in the landscapes and spiritual atmosphere of Central Asia, these poems reflect the inner world of a generation living between borders, histories, and identities. Blending Kazakh poetic tradition with modern existential intensity, Seitov writes about mothers and mourning, forgotten villages, political unrest, migration, spiritual longing, and the fragile search for meaning in a wounded world. Rivers, wolves, steppe winds, ancestral memory, and abandoned streets appear throughout the collection as living symbols of loss, resilience, and belonging. Drawing from Kazakh oral literature, Turkic mythology, and contemporary post-Soviet reality, the poems carry both personal confession and collective memory. The poet's voice moves between tenderness and despair, intimacy and rebellion, creating a lyrical atmosphere shaped by longing, silence, and emotional truth. Raw, haunting, and deeply human, this collection introduces a distinctive contemporary voice from Central Asia and offers readers a rare poetic vision where homeland, spirit, and memory continue to speak across time.
