Synopsis

Legal thriller meets political conspiracy when Dana Ferris follows a trail of missing records into a statewide system built to stay hidden. Dana is no longer chasing one corrupt judge or one county. After filing records requests across the state, she discovers juvenile-service contracts tied to quotas, private money, and judges whose decisions may be anything but independent. A frightened insider, Curtis Boyd, has the report that could prove it. But evidence has a price. Boyd is fired, silenced by an NDA, and publicly discredited. Dana must decide how much of his testimony can be used without destroying the person who trusted her. Her own firm faces sanctions, her brother Tom is questioned, and the case threatens everything she has built. Then the paper trail reaches Sable Capital, the private-equity firm behind the network. A state senator sits close to the money. A judge who supposedly recused himself is still hearing related cases. And a second county reveals the same quota structure under a different name. Dana files suit-and the response is immediate. Legal threats become political pressure. A settlement offers real money for a family she once fought for, but accepting it could bury the statewide case. When she refuses, someone enters her office and opens every file without taking a thing. The deeper Dana digs, the harder it becomes to separate justice from strategy, truth from evidence, and allies from liabilities. Every revelation creates another question: who is directing the system, who is protecting it, and how far does it reach? A courtroom fight becomes a battle over records, reputation, money, and institutional power, with every victory carrying a cost. Dana thought she was exposing a corrupt system. She was only beginning to discover who owned it.

À propos de l'auteur

A. B. Tewary writes from the thin line between what people show and what they hide. Years in the classroom taught him to notice what isn't said-the pause before an answer, the story behind a silence, the small fractures that never quite heal. Beneath ordinary lives, he found patterns: carefully constructed selves, quiet performances, truths edited until they felt real.Shaped by a deep and restless reading life, his fiction leans into psychological tension-where identity shifts, memory bends, and morality becomes negotiable. His characters are rarely what they seem, and often not what they believe themselves to be.He writes stories that observe, then disturb-stories that move with intention, tighten without warning, and linger long after the final page.
