Synopsis

A brooding, long-haired man (Lee Vance) stands alone on the shoulder of a rain-soaked nighttime highway in rural Ohio. His back is mostly to the viewer, shoulders tense, dark hair blowing in the wind. A faint, eerie yellow glint glows in his eyes when caught by headlights. Behind him is a battered white panel van with its side door open, guitars, amps, and duffel bags spilling out onto wet asphalt. Blood streaks mix with rainwater near his boots. A black knife handle with silver inlay lies on the ground. In the far distance, a surreal golden wildflower meadow glows under moonlight, where a silver-haired woman (Dove) stands calmly with a hawk on her arm and a loyal dog at her side - creating a stark contrast between violence and peace.

Atmosphere: gritty, paranoid, moody, and intense. Heavy rain, red/blue light reflections in puddles, dramatic contrast lighting. Deep blacks, blood reds, sickly yellows, and ethereal gold accents. About the Author

David Carter is a lifelong musician, guitarist, bassist, and lyricist, best known as the driving force behind the band Animal Instinct. With creativity running through his veins - his mother was a respected artist who inspired him from a young age - David has spent his life expressing himself through music, art, and creative writing.

In addition to his music career, David built a successful career in the construction trades, specializing in high-quality finishing work including painting, tile, stone, siding, and more. That same hands-on discipline and attention to detail carries over into his creative projects.

Animal Instinct is a deeply personal work born from David's passion for music and storytelling. He is proud to collaborate on this and future books with his daughter, Raven, who contributes her own artwork and works side-by-side with her father on editing and creative development. Both are big friends of critters, and Dave will go out of his way to help them.

David continues to create music and write from his home in Ohio, driven by the belief that art - whether through sound, words, or visuals - has the power to connect, heal, and endure.
