Synopsis
The sun has stopped moving, and the world is growing cold.
Fourteen dawns have passed, and every one identical: the same thin light, the same gray sky, and a gnawing chill that saps the life from Sunlight Village. Locked inside a volcanic crater, the people are desperate, food is vanishing, and the lava pools that once provided warmth are dimming to a sullen red.
Thirteen-year-old Violetta Light is a strategist who seeks answers in forbidden scrolls. Her twelve-year-old brother Ben is an athlete who lives by a code of honor. When they are framed for a crime they didn't commit by the corrupt Petty-Vain family, they are exiled into the unmapped Volcanic Jungle-a lethal wilderness of Ash Labyrinths, Glass Forests, and corrupted monsters.
But they aren't traveling alone. With Ruthless, their loyal giant lava tortoise, the siblings must endure six impossible trials to reach the mythic Sun Tower. Their goal: a teleportation jump into the sun itself to battle the Umbra-Mist, a sentient void-parasite that feeds on the greed and malice of the world below.
From the high-speed stampedes of the Raptor Plains to the liquid plasma islands of the Solar Archipelago, Violetta and Ben must transform from outcasts into revolutionaries. To reignite the sun, they must do more than survive the jungle; they must find the purified intent needed to face the Phantom of Greed and save their world from the ultimate darkness.
