Synopsis

Life breaks us in many ways-through love, loss, grief, and the quiet battles we carry inside. Making Medicine is a raw and heartfelt collection of poems about finding meaning and moments of joy even in the darkest seasons. These poems explore what it means to fall apart, to keep going, and to slowly find your way back to the light. For anyone searching for beauty, hope, and healing in a complicated world, Making Medicine is a reminder that we can create the medicine we need when the world won't give it.

À propos de l'auteur

M.ello is a Dominican American writer from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. A graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in English Education, she spent six years teaching English and Creative Writing to middle and high school students. Much of her career was dedicated to serving students in inner-city communities, where she was deeply inspired by their resilience, struggles, and untold stories.Drawing from both her students' experiences and her own journey through grief, chronic health challenges, and mental health struggles, M.ello discovered the transformative power of writing as a path toward healing. Her debut poetry collection, Making Medicine, emerged from that journey-a testament to the slow, courageous work of mending oneself from the inside out.Through vulnerable and reflective poetry, M.ello explores themes of loss, resilience, self-discovery, and healing, inviting readers to find comfort, strength, and hope within their own stories.
