Synopsis

In the aftermath of the Dominion’s invasion, humanity survives only beneath the surface—sheltered by the World-Root, an ancient planetary system older than civilization itself. Above them, the sky is choked with ash as Ash Engines reduce continents to slow-burning wastelands, stripping Earth down to what the Dominion believes is a perfect, empty paradise.
But the planet is no longer silent.
As survivors adapt to life below, Milo’s bond with the World-Root deepens, granting him impossible power—at a terrifying personal cost. Each act of planetary defense drains something irreversible from him, forcing Elara to confront an impossible question: how much of a child can be sacrificed to save a world?
Meanwhile, distrust fractures the resistance. Arieth Vox, an alien defector and former enforcer of the Dominion, struggles to earn the trust of those who see him as a weapon rather than an ally. When ancient Architect systems awaken within him, Arieth becomes something unprecedented—neither alien nor machine, but a bridge between species the Dominion never anticipated.
As Ash Engines activate across the planet, continents ignite. Cities vanish. Refuge missions become death sentences. Every surface journey risks exposing the World-Root’s location and triggering extinction-level retaliation.
Then the Earth fights back.
