The Manor House is a school straight out of a dream. An exotic, stunning mansion full of secrets, it has been partially repurposed as a school; and if stealthy searches for a hidden loot aren’t exciting enough for the students Nora, Lindsay, Cicely and the rest, there are daily adventures with bats, rats, peacocks, ducks…and run-in’s with suspicious-seeming residents. There’s also the mystery of the troubled young heiress to the Manor who the children desperately want to help, amidst heaps of exploring, uncovering, surprises, and overall riotous fun!

The text has been carefully adapted by Suchitra Ramadurai, twice winner of the Commonwealth Short Story Regional Prize in 2004 and 2012, with the aim of improving clarity and readability while preserving the original tone, structure, and spirit of the work, and freshly created, warm pencil illustrations have been included.
