Synopsis
On the sixth day of a peace pilgrimage across India, a stray dog began following a group of Buddhist monks. He had no name. No home. No reason to stay.
But he stayed.
He walked more than 3,000 kilometers beside them - through heat, illness, and a car accident that nearly ended his life. When the monks tried to place him on a truck, he jumped off. He wanted to walk.
They named him Aloka. It means divine light.
When the pilgrimage ended, the monks could not leave him behind. They raised $14,000, completed months of paperwork, and brought him to the United States. In October 2025, when those same monks set out on a 2,300-mile Walk for Peace from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C., Aloka walked with them again - often at the front of the line.
