Synopsis

Don’t Start Counting I’m Not Getting Up is not just a life story — it’s a full-throttle ride through grit, glory, gallows humour and unbreakable spirit.
Born on a council estate and forged in hard knocks, Gary Davidson lived more lives than most men dare to imagine. Boxer. Publican. Magician. Professional gambler. A larger-than-life, old-school character who moved effortlessly between back-street bookies and palace doors, equally loved by gangsters and royalty. If life was a game, Gary played it all in — and usually won.
Then, at just 37, the unthinkable: motor neurone disease. His body failed, but Gary never did.
What began as an autobiography painfully dictated through paralysis — communicated by the faint movement of a dying man’s head — became something far greater: a thrilling, raw and unforgettable biography of courage. Trapped inside his own body for nine long years, Gary fought the disease with the same ferocity he brought to the ring, refusing to surrender his humour, his pride, or his will to live.
This is a story of highs and lows, risk and reward, laughter and loss — told in strict chronological order, pulling you relentlessly forward. It’s a tale of a man who refused to be defined by his ending, and whose bravery redefined what it means to be strong.
Think Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels colliding head-on with Spartacus — streetwise, savage, and heroic to the core.

Fast, fearless and deeply human, this is a must-read biography that grips you from the first page and never lets go.
A must-buy.
A must-read.
A life you’ll never forget
