Synopsis
The Message in the Bottle is a dual-timeline children’s novelette about courage, remembrance, and the enduring power of hope. The story begins in 1915 as Arthur Colson, a young soldier sailing to war, writes a message of encouragement and casts it into the sea. Though Arthur never returns home, his message survives storms, decades, and distance. Over one hundred years later in Dover, an eleven-year-old boy named Robert—who struggles with bullying and a leg difference—discovers the bottle with his new friend Andy. Arthur’s words give Robert strength, helping him see his uniqueness not as brokenness, but as courage. The boys form an unlikely friendship and send out a new message of hope, continuing Arthur’s legacy.
