Synopsis

When Mark was in his late teens a preacher showed the power of putting oneself in the shoes of a character in the Bible, often someone unknown and maybe even unmentioned, like a person in the crowd. These poems arise from Mark’s meditations on how various people would have felt at different times while witnessing or reflecting on Biblical events. Some are also his impression of what God is saying at the time, or how Jesus is feeling. Out of respect for God’s infinite nature, he differentiates between “the” voice of a person and “a” voice of God / Jesus.

This is Mark’s fourth such book:

  1. To the Heart of Things, which has a wider variety of poetry including many of his secular, often nature-based, poems;
  2. To the Soul of things, a series of poetic meditations on the faith and life;
  3. Tales and Reflections, prose pieces of Tales from the Bible with a similar outlook to this collection, Reflections from the Bible of specific Biblical episodes, and Reflections on the Faith, on different aspects of the faith.

God willing, more are on the way…
