- The futures that await us: interplanetary life, artificial intelligence, the search for extraterrestrial consciousness, and the existential risks that could end the story
But this is not only a science book. Written by a scientist who was also formed in the Vedantic philosophical tradition, The Evolutionary Transcendence weaves together evolutionary biology, cosmology, moral philosophy, and the ancient insight that the universe emerged from joy — and that its deepest tendency is toward the recovery of that joy.
Drawing on Darwin, Heisenberg, the Taittiriya Upanishad, Gandhi, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the latest research in astrobiology and AI safety, Dr. Adak builds an argument that is simultaneously scientifically grounded and spiritually alive: that the arc of evolution — cosmic, biological, and civilizational — bends toward more consciousness, more compassion, and more of what the ancient tradition calls Ananda.
