When Nick arrives in a small town in Umbria, he comes alone and with his affairs carefully arranged, driven by a private intention he has shared with no one. The landscape is peaceful and beautiful — rolling hills, silver-green olive groves, long afternoons of sun and silence — yet beneath this calm lies a past he has not made peace with.
Through his housekeeper, he meets her son Alessandro: shy, thoughtful, and uncertain of his own worth. What begins as a polite acquaintance gradually deepens over long days restoring a neglected villa and its gardens. Stone by stone, path by path, the place begins to change, and so do they.
Almost without intending to, Nick becomes a mentor to the younger man, offering quiet reassurance and the steady wisdom of experience. In sharing something of the love and life that shaped him, he leaves Alessandro with more than memories — he offers him a way to endure, a way to build a life, and the courage to believe he deserves one.
