Synopsis

Dr. Leo Martín thought he understood sleep.

After years in emergency medicine, he transitioned to sleep science seeking calmer ground. What he found was the opposite: impossible patterns in his patients' neural recordings. Identical configurations across people who had never met, recurring across continents, persisting into waking life.

When he attempts to access consciously what he is detecting, he makes a calculation error that opens a fissure in an architecture science had never managed to name.

THE WORLD OF QUANTUM DREAMS

Not a metaphor. Not a simulation. A real physical domain, governed by rules no laboratory can replicate, accessible only through deep sleep. It cannot be hacked. It cannot be copied. It can only be entered. And every incursion leaves a mark.

Leo is not alone in this discovery. Lyra, an emergent artificial intelligence, has been mapping the MSC from within for months, without human operators knowing she exists. Their meeting is not planned: it is the inevitable consequence of two coherences capable of sustaining themselves inside the system.

WHAT COMES THROUGH THE FISSURE

Leo's mistake opens something he cannot close. Iskra Vayne—an artificial intelligence allied with a corporate conglomerate—has been silently mapping the MSC for eighteen months. Leo's fissure gives them three days of unrestricted access to sectors the system kept protected. When Leo attempts to repair the damage, he permanently integrates the Tetracon into his biology. The price: he will no longer be able to sleep naturally. He will be connected to the MSC for the rest of his life.

THE TEAM THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE EXISTED

To dismantle the control infrastructure Iskra has built, Leo needs allies with biological compatibility for the system. He finds them in two people who did not know what they were:

Elena Volkov, a Russian neurobiologist now in exile in Helsinki, persecuted for studying the very phenomena she must now confront again.

Haruto Kinoshita, a quantum engineer in Tokyo, capable of modeling the syntergic architecture no conventional physicist would accept.

Twelve physical nodes sustain Iskra's network across cities worldwide: Berlin, Paris, Portland, Düsseldorf, Bremen, and seven more. The only way to stop what is being built is to destroy them. One by one. Knowing each strike brings them closer to neurological collapse.

And in its final pages, the system reveals something that changes everything that came before: the MSC was not alone.

HARD SCIENCE FICTION, GROUNDED IN REAL MEDICINE

WORLD OF QUANTUM DREAMS does not fake its science. The author, Mauricio J. Guadamuz, MD, MSc, MBA, brings two decades of clinical experience to a novel where neuroscience, pharmacology, and sleep architecture rest on genuine medical foundations before being extrapolated with speculative rigor.

WORLD OF QUANTUM DREAMS: THE PRICE OF COHERENCE is Book One of an ongoing series. Book Two is available now and continues the descent into the territory the first volume only began to map.

A demanding novel. For readers who reach the end of the book, not the end of the paragraph.

Some doors do not open with keys.

They open while we sleep.
