Rabbi Shimon Kessin is a talmid chacham and teacher of Jewish thought whose shiurim on hashkafa, the purpose of creation, and the process of redemption have reached a worldwide audience through TorahAnytime and hashkafa.org. He wrote this work in the summer of 2005, in the two weeks following the expulsion from Gush Katif, in response to the depression that swept through Klal Yisroel at that time. It was published anonymously, lishma, and carried approbations from HaRav Moishe Sternbuch shlit"a, HaRav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg zt"l, and the Beis Din Tzedek of Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of copies were distributed free of charge.
