Description
This devotional was written for families who want more than just getting through the day. It is for those who long to slow down, to notice the world around them, and to raise children with intention, faith, and a genuine love of learning.
Each month follows the natural rhythm of the seasons, weaving together Scripture, real-life experience, and practical guidance for home and family life. Some days are light and observational, inviting you to step outside, notice the clouds, tend a garden, or sit quietly with your children. Other days speak directly into the work of home education, offering encouragement, structure, and the confidence to teach your children well.
This is not a rigid system. It is not a curriculum in the traditional sense. It is a companion for the journey, one that acknowledges both the beauty and the challenge of raising a family, managing a home, and, for many, stepping into homeschooling.
Written from lived experience, these readings reflect a life that continues to grow. Following my own advice, I have tried to stay active and engaged in the rhythms of life. My love for my grandchildren, time in the garden, and being out on the water have all become part of that. Somewhere along the way, I became an avid kayaker, and for my 60th birthday, the children gave me a stand-up paddleboard. It was such a thoughtful gift, and more than that, it showed they had confidence in my strength and ability. It was a reminder to keep moving, keep enjoying the outdoors, and keep living what I’ve tried to pass on to them.
At its heart, this book is about training children to see, to see God in creation, to see purpose in their work, and to see learning as something alive and worth pursuing.
Take it one day at a time. Let the words settle. Build your home with intention, and trust that what you are doing matters.
