Prima ballerina Julienne Auclair has the moon on a string, destined for a wonderful career of dance and fine Parisian living. But everything changes as World War Two begins. When that war hits her doorstep in the Spring of 1941, Julienne prefers to keep her head down, follow the rules, and ensure her safety. But the Ballet Master, Adrien, has had enough and decides to send a message to their unwanted guests during a Reich-approved performance. Little does she know that her performance will seal her fate.
After arriving at the prison camp, Lager Herzogenhorn, Julienne cannot find any member of her troupe. Not even Adrien. She's approached by a soldier and, after much resistance, is taken into a mysterious home. She meets the homeowner and Camp Commandant, Obersturmführer Rainer Wolfe. At first, Rainer isn't who she thinks he is. Or at least, the man he appears to be. After a surprise reunion, Julienne is faced with a moral dilemma: Is it best to stay silent and survive? Or will she use her closeness to the commandant to try to save others?
