In the Old Testament, prayer often meant reaching out to a God who was distant, in heaven, whether looking toward Jerusalem, entering the temple courts, or waiting for a priest or prophet to intercede. But in the New Covenant, the relationship between God and His people has completely changed.
We are no longer on the outside looking in. As born again believers under the new covenant, we have been made a new creature, and become the very temple of God, where His Spirit dwells. Prayer is now a face-to-face conversation with God, in our born-again spirit, as we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. This shift in our state of being has transformed who we are, and thereby how we communicate with God, and how God communicates with us.
This book talks about what prayer and a relationship with the Father looks like under the new covenant, how it flows from our union with Christ, and why it is far more than a list of requests and supplications. It is a living relationship of listening, responding, enjoying each other’s presence and thereby partnering with God in building His kingdom on earth.
