Synopsis

Ben Dubh is a poet from Stirling in Scotland currently residing in Toronto, Canada. He honed his skills at open mics while living in Glasgow and performing across central Scotland. His spoken word show Bright Lights and Blackouts appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. A Mess of Poems is his debut print collection.

Intended initially simply to be a gift to his grandmother for Christmas, the book covers an array of themes including family values, mental health, loneliness, everyday small frustrations and living a distance from those you care the most about. The scattered nature of subject matter is highlighted in its title, it is a mess of poems, a mess of thoughts and a mess of perspective on the world. A sense of humour reigns supreme throughout, the book will touch your heart on one page and have you laughing at something you shouldn't be on the next. Each of these 46 poems holds a piece to the puzzle that is world in some way, that is our understanding of it, that is the mess of it all.
