Synopsis
The story of Gideon is a beautiful story of how God works with an individual who will take a stand for truth. This story reveals how God worked with Gideon to build him up in confidence and strength of mind to the point that Gideon helps drive out the invading Midian army in one of the most remarkable military operations in history.
Gideon struggles with what God had asked him to do, he doubts himself, questioning if he is the best man for the job. He knew the job, he knew what he was asked to do but it took him some time to believe he could do it. The book details the steps God takes to build Gideon up and works with him in an extraordinary display of patience, understanding and love. It teaches us so much about the character of God, the depths of His love, His mercy and grace.
The story is based at at time when Israel had walked away from God and into captivity. Then in the depths of their despair they finally remember their miracle working God. We read the steps that God had to take to deliver Israel to secure their freedom and safety.
God needed a brave warrior to walk with Him, someone who would carry out His instructions and that person was Gideon.
