Synopsis
When I think about where I was before Christ, I realize that I was enslaved. Enslaved by my own desires, my own sin, my pride, my addictions. I was bound in chains, but I couldn’t see them. I thought I was free, but in reality, I was in deep bondage to the very things that promised to satisfy me—but never did.
That’s the deceit of sin. It offers freedom, but only delivers slavery. It promises life, but leads to death.
And that’s why Jesus came. He came to pay the price for my sin—your sin—the sin of all mankind. The price for sin is death, but Jesus, in His great love for us, took that penalty upon Himself. He didn’t just die for the "good" people. He died for the broken, the lost, the sinners. He died for me—and He died for you.
