Synopsis
On June 21, 2021, Johnny Hurley was shopping in Olde Town Arvada. When Johnny heard gunshots from across the square, he ran straight into danger, without hesitation, and quickly neutralized the (attempted) mass shooter. Witnesses described believing that Johnny was likely military, based on the skill & effectiveness with which he handled the situation.
A minute later, a police officer who had been hiding inside the Arvada PD office on the square watching the situation unfold on security cameras, emerged from the building and shot Johnny in the back. No warning, no announcing himself, no pausing to notice that this was clearly not the shooter he had been looking at on the CCTV. Johnny bled to death on the concrete. The police officer received paid leave, and the official investigation ruled that this murder was a "Good Shoot".
Millions of people now know the name Johnny Hurley as a Good Samaritan, as a man who heroically risked (and gave) his life to save countless others.
