Synopsis

The blood pooled around him, darkening, yet still wet around the oozing dent, recently made, in his skull. A pair of serious shoes approached. Sergeant Cirka leaned in close, bending right down to the dead man’s eye level, observing with feeling. Rising, he noticed the state of the workbench, looking close to the glasses on the table. Cirka inspected them one by one, noting, in a small notebook, that the guest's glass had been wiped clean.

A chilling meditation on alienation, memory, and escape, The Firmament invites readers to question the thin line between perception and illusion, and what might remain when the facade dissolves.

In The Firmament, Adam Parker, author of short fiction, screenplays, and nonfiction with a passion for science fiction, cyberpunk, and philosophical thrillers, crafts a vision that is as haunting as it is electric. The novella follows John, a solitary figure surveilling a fractured world through six cold monitors, lost between the flickering life onscreen and the desolate city outside.
