Synopsis
The Liryians, a peaceful, technologically advanced race from the constellation Liria, are brutally attacked and annihilated by the reptilian Conquerors. Before their homeworld's destruction, Liryian scientists manage to launch several refugee ships into space. Guided by probes, the survivors discover a habitable planet in a new solar system, inhabited by a technologically inferior race. The Liryian leadership decides on a slow integration, beginning with the scientific community, and makes contact with an American scientist who brokers a deal with the US government. In exchange for advanced military technology, the Liryians are granted land in the western United States for settlement, initiating a complex and potentially volatile coexistence.
This new settlement faces immediate challenges stemming from cultural misunderstandings, the inherent disparity in technological advancement, and the underlying tension of the Liryians' desperation for survival against the backdrop of their lost civilization. The integration process is fraught with suspicion from the human population and internal Liryian debates about their future and the ethics of their interaction with humanity, especially concerning the shared military technology which could have unforeseen consequences. The resolution hinges on the Liryians establishing a sustainable existence while navigating the complexities of their new home and the potential for renewed conflict, either from humanity or from the lingering threat of the Conquerors.
