Synopsis

We cannot say that we did not know. The masks do not hide us from ourselves. It is in fact us who are doing this to ourselves. Why I ask you, should we divide the house, when it's continent-breadth, has room enough for all of us? I of all people, know that words have little power, and yet their malign use has fooled so many into chattering blindness. I stand by the side of the road holding a sign that says nothing, because there are signs already everywhere. Signs to buy, signs to sell-out, and most of all signs of the trouble we are in as a nation. And the signs that say to love of course are ignored as impractical. I am sorry if some anger and despair has crept into my heart. I am sorry if the country I thought I had come to understand, has now entered bizarro world territory. To those of you who fear, including myself, I would say, take a deep breath, inhale the goodness that fear can never find purchase in. We are beings, fundamentally of divine light, and we will yet find a way to shed a little healing light, in this strange time, when the raging ones, more than anything, cannot stand to look into the mirror.
