Synopsis
Halee, pronounced like "Hal" in "Halloween," has spent her entire life aboard the Ballard Spirit, a spaceship on a mission to explore exoplanets and document new forms of life. When an accident leaves both of her parents too ill to continue, Halee must put her parents in cryobiosis and ship them to a medical outpost. Halee is compelled to finish their mission in the Andromeda Galaxy, even if she is all alone. She will travel to the distant exoplanet, Mineraux, to see if it harbors life before it can be turned into a mining colony.
Can Halee learn enough to accomplish the mission? Guided by her companion computer, whom she calls Teacher, Halee navigates alien landscapes, scientific discoveries, and ethical dilemmas while proving to herself and the universe that she's capable of much more than anyone expected. She is driven to make her parents proud.
But Halee uncovers something shocking about herself while exploring Mineraux. Can she stand up to powerful evil forces who want to exploit her and the exoplanet Mineraux?
