Synopsis
We live in a world of modern ruin and abandonment. It is a world of movement amid physical ruination and fragmentation. Many buildings and places lie in recent ruin. This comes at a time in archaeology as a ‘turn’ to these recent ruins. It is also a time for a ‘return’ to these recent ruins as something other than sites of ‘paranormality’ so common in popular culture. In this book, John Sabol approaches this concept of ‘revenantism’ from an archaeological sensible and sensitive perspective, one based on past archives of memory as a form of memory work.
