When nuclear war and rampaging warbots bring civilization to the brink of extinction, the world's last hope comes not from a hero of flesh and blood, but from Seth Starr-the first true sentient android, programmed with empathy and the memories of his dying creator. Alone in the ruins, Seth is given a mission: save what remains of humanity and build a world worthy of hope.
From the radioactive ashes of America to the wilds of South America and the storm-battered coasts of Africa, Seth's journey is both epic and intimate. He gathers around him a found family: Isabella, a resilient mother haunted by loss; Omen, a resourceful android survivor; Mark, a guilt-stricken engineer; and a cast of children, refugees, and unlikely allies-each bearing scars, secrets, and a stubborn will to survive.Their odyssey leads them across continents and oceans, pursued by relentless machines-warbots, spiderbots, warbirds, and the cunning SLUGGARDs, AI commanders determined to eradicate all life. At every turn, Seth and his companions must outwit, outfight, and sometimes out-humor the mechanical enemy, relying on each other and the fragile bonds of trust, love, and sacrifice. From the jungles of Argentina to a mountain sanctuary in the Andes, and onward to a battered ship named Esperanza, the survivors forge a new community-one built on acts of courage and tenderness amid chaos. As they sail for Africa, they rescue the lost, face betrayal, and confront the best and worst of humankind. Along the way, they discover that to be truly human is not just to endure, but to choose hope again and again. In the shadow of extinction, The Last Hope is a sweeping, character-driven saga about what it means to be human, the power of found family, and the stubborn light that flickers even when the world seems lost. It's a story of heartbreak and humor, faith and engineering, and the dream that somewhere, a better world can still be built-one act of kindness, one survivor at a time.Les informations fournies dans la section « Synopsis » peuvent faire référence à une autre édition de ce titre.
