Synopsis
Shannon Wise is a middle-aged woman shaped by the shores of Hawaii and in her youth lived for the ocean’s embrace, her days filled with the rhythm of the waves. A former competitive athlete, she was forced to set aside her attachment for the sea with life’s demands of work and career, which had to become her priority as she was not a child of legacy.
Shannon stands at a crossroads; but now determined to reclaim her strength and rewrite her story. She sets her sights on an extraordinary challenge: The First Great International Interisland Paddle, a grueling five-day journey paddling to and from four of Hawaii’s eight major islands.
The physical demands of training test her resolve. Yet, her greatest battle lies deeper; within the shadowed waters of her mind, where a primal fear of ocean creatures, especially sharks, looms large, rooted in haunting past memories.
Guided by the wisdom of her adoptive Hawaiian aunt, who teaches her the art of spirit and resilience and supported by loyal friends and neighbors, Shannon embarks on this arduous journey, but as she pushes toward her goal, an unseen threat emerges; someone who wishes to see her fail, perhaps even perish.
