Synopsis

The memoir of Sarah Bryan Erwin, the daughter of Southern Baptist missionaries. Sarah Erwin grew up in the Northeast China province of Shantung. Born in 1925, she experienced the great revival that broke out there 25 years after the brutal Boxer Rebellion had all but wiped out Christianity in that region. "A Goodly Heritage" chronicles one woman's journey from pre WWII China, her education at the China Inland Mission's Chefoo School, life under Japanese occupation, her journey to the United States, marriage to a Naval Air Corps pilot named Jim Erwin and subsequent life raising her children and worshipping the Lord. Originally written for her grandchildren, Sarah Erwin's memoir gives a rich, child's perspective of missionary life in China and the subsequent journey of a Christian woman in post war America.

Beautifully illustrated with numerous family photographs plus original drawings by Sarah's sister, Ann Bryan Pearl, former art director for Neiman Marcus stores.
