This book is an attempt to re-find the voice of the Buddha in the twenty-first century. Times have indeed changed, but human proclivities for greed, hatred, and delusion have not changed much since the Buddha's time in ancient India. If anything, the conditions that feed these proclivities seem to have increased a thousandfold since then. It may be that the need for self-correction offered by the Buddha is also a thousandfold more urgent in addressing the human condition today.
The texts in this volume are a re-remembering of the Buddha’s voice. They arose in response to wondering how the Buddha would speak if he were alive today. They are not invested in promoting a Buddhist ideology for our troubled times. They simply point to new possibilities for listening to the Buddha's voice and engaging the Buddha in conversation with our contemporary condition.
