The research study is a secondary thematic analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on; employee satisfaction, motivation, and performance, and the workplace issues, experiences, and transformations from the crisis.
Fredrick Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory was used to review the hygiene factors and motivators that organizations applied to maintain satisfactory levels of employee satisfaction, motivation, and performance during the pandemic.
Competitive organizations maintained employee satisfaction by adopting flexible remote work arrangements and respecting employment contracts for job security during COVID-19.
These organizations enhanced employee motivation by; recognizing and appreciating good work during the crisis.
Performance levels were maintained and/or improved by giving employees autonomy, decision-making authority, and rewards in the remote or hybrid work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hybrid work model shows a sustainable result of the COVID-19 work environment as current organizations strive to integrate the remote virtual work arrangement with the physical in-office or on-site workplace.
Organizations are also increasing investments in health, wellness, and competency development policies and programs to ensure employees are flexible, productive, and resilient during organizational changes or societal crises.
