John McDonough has returned in one of his most ambitious projects to date - a celebration of Christianity in verse. And a celebration it is, with its watchword “joy.”
He has adopted as his theme and model, Friedrich Schiller’s “Ode to Joy.” McDonough’s poem, too, is an ode, a celebration, from the Immaculate Conception through the founding of the Church, with special attention to the legacy of Christianity’s spiritual gifts.
McDonough promises to present this ode “from the perspective of a physician and father of seven children.” And he delivers.
