Synopsis

Danny Birnbaum lived a dull life at first. His first taste of adulthood was getting dumped by a girl for not having a path in his life, no passion or plan for the future. He moved to a city far from his country roots where he found work as a line cook. This forever changed the course of his life.

Through debauchery, sex, drugs, love, loss, anger, pain, and everything in between, Danny formed an appreciation for the Church of the Kitchen, toiling and offering sacrifice with blood, sweat, and tears.

There was still the aching question in his soul that he feared could never be answered, certainly not by himself: What is passion? Was it a person, or a thing, or an illusion that people created to get them through the monotony of life?

This novel follows Danny through his tumultuous twenties as he forges a path through life. Once he found a purpose, a calling, the rest of the world fizzled out from focus around him. It is a story about passion and purpose, about what we lose and what we gain from chasing our dreams. It is about the bittersweet journey of life and the constant march of time despite our best efforts to stop the inertia.

Also contained inside is a selection of recipes from the novel. Bon appétit, mes amis!
