This book is the third of five mini books on the theatre of Femi Osofisan. It tackles the question of how Osofisan employs folkloric traditions to construct certain specimens of postcolonial societies in his plays. Delving into Osofisan’s politics and ideology, this book argues that the best part of Osofisan’s folkloric theatre is when we encounter his dramatis personae as social agents who are conflicted by the rites of passage they must negotiate from heroism to villainy, or the other way round whilst they are ironically butts of lampoon as they are lampooning others. However, Osofisan’s storytelling often ends in social truth being caricatured and pilloried.
