Rhymed verse poems offer measures of meaning
in tight units that often grant greater accessibility
to the work because they are transmitted in a format
that makes it easier for the mind to receive.
The repeated sounds of end lines carry a finality,
which impacts with cadence, and delivers
a linear consistency for absorbing the poems
through these structured groupings.
Syllabic rhymed verse poetry better lends itself
to memory as opposed to free verse,
as it emphasizes both content and context
in ways that provide a solid and compact
organization of thought.
The mind more readily recalls rhymed passages
because of the repetition, which implants rhythm
and familiarity with expected, and anticipated sounds.
Writing within these certain parameters creates
a distinct cohesion that is sonically resonant.
After many years of composing poetry,
which have included sporadic rhymed verse poems
throughout my collections, I decided to write
a volume entirely dedicated to this form.
It was an experiment to see if I could achieve
some success with working inside
the configurations of this more conventional,
and classic approach, and a way to expand
my compositional abilities to further
explore my metaphysical themes
but with a stricter adherence to traditional verse.
In my poems, I have always been thoughtful
about the line itself, and how best to arrange
the words in the most economical
and impactful way possible.
With rhymed verse, it is even more essential
to concentrate on the line itself,
as the structure dictates much of the art,
and depends on a well-formed
expression to communicate the line
in terms of meter, rhyme and meaning.
This is the approach I have taken
with these poems: to craft, as precisely
and imaginatively as I can,
something that opens
in illuminating and surprising ways.
The poems in this collection center
around the idea of transfiguration:
what it means to elevate,
not only our consciousness, but also
our physical bodies, and what that change
brings to our experiences as we engage
processes of spiritual evolution.
I offer these poems as an unfolding journey,
one that invites questions, and encourages
progression through personal stages
of intentional enlightenment.
Nothing Shall Come Between Us and the Sun
is a collection of rhymed verse poems
encouraging mindful spiritual persistence
to evolve the soul, and catalyze the light inside
for an embodied illumination
that elevates and transfigures.
Though none of the sacred dangers are done,
nothing shall come between us and the sun.
