Synopsis

Beneath the bleak skies of a Northern English town in December 1990, where the ghosts of industry hang in the biting wind, a collision of ambition and desperation is set into motion.

Woody, a young garage mechanic more focused on scoring ecstasy for his fiancée Kate and avoiding his boss’s ire than on the changing world around him, soon finds his life tangled with Baz—a small-time hustler with one fleeting dream: to throw the ultimate illegal rave in a forgotten warehouse.

As Baz's chaotic plans take shape—fuelled by borrowed generators and the promise of a hedonistic escape—their fates intertwine with a volatile cast: Tez, a football casual struggling to stay afloat in the rising tide of rave culture, his loyalty tested amid chemical highs and simmering aggression; Lee, Woody’s workmate, whose growing entanglement in the rave scene’s dangerous underbelly drags him into peril; and Tash McDermott, a police officer whose watchful presence is a constant threat to the illegal festivities, while he navigates his own hidden agendas.

From petty shoplifting schemes in Zurich to the monotony of life in a grimy garage, and the electrifying pulse of the emerging rave scene, Warehouse plunges into the raw heart of a society on the cusp of dramatic change.

Yet beneath the hedonistic abandon and stolen moments of freedom, a darker story unfolds. Loyalty unravels, desperation rises, and by the harsh light of dawn, the warehouse will become the site of irreversible tragedy, leaving shattered lives and lingering questions in its wake.

Warehouse is a gritty, compelling novel that captures the volatile energy of a pivotal era, weaving together the lives of those chasing fleeting dreams in the shadows. In a world where ambition and the consequences of a single night intertwine, the echoes of that night will resound long after the music fades. Five intertwining short stories culminate in a thrilling sixth act, where everything comes to a devastating head.
