Synopsis

Set in mid 1800's, near New Orleans, A mother and daughter are purchased by a wealthy plantation owner, who acts strangely at first around the young girl. He eventually years later, falls in love with the slave girl, and frees her and her mother, before taking them to England where they can openly be together, and marry. As mixed race marriage was illegal here in the U.S. This is her story, a tale of love, but also of racism, and the hypocrasy, of a "free country" being built on the backs of slaves. This is a tale of love, with subtext attempting to point out the atrocity of racism. In the prologue a scene is created depicting the absolute cruelty some slaves endured, and setting the scene of just how bad life had been for the two women, before being purchased by Grim. He is at first thought of as another cruel, sick racist, but is soon revealed to be kind, gentle, and protective, yet broken also. His own past has not been pleasant, she thinks he is saving her, but in reality, she is the hero, who saves him
