Jessie has no family, no money, and no elemental power-an outcast in a world where everyone belongs to one of nine elements. Raised by a distant teacher and forced to live in a converted janitor's closet at Midlands High, she survives by keeping her head down and her intelligence sharp. At school, she's known only as "No Name." In Fralum, that makes her invisible.
Until a class trip changes everything. Fralum is a floating world of elemental kingdoms ruled from the shadows, shaped by a centuries-old war and a powerful artifact known as the Star. When Jessie's class travels beyond the Midlands to the Ice Sector, she is drawn into a world of royalty, secrets, and long-buried betrayals. There, she befriends Prince Jack Frost and his guarded companion, Black Ice-two boys with far more to lose than they let on. What begins as a rare moment of belonging turns dangerous when Jessie uncovers a conspiracy tied to the Shaded Knights and a figure who should not exist: Chillspine Shyvr, a ruthless noble with vast secrets and ambition that extends to the crown. As hidden loyalties surface, Jessie must decide whether to remain invisible-or risk everything to protect the first friends who have ever truly seen her.
Set in a richly imagined elemental world, Ice and Betrayal is a gripping coming-of-age fantasy about power, identity, and the courage it takes to stand when you have nothing left to lose.
