Synopsis
The Icknield Way was written by British poet and author Edward Thomas (1878-1917) and was originally published 1913.
The Icknield Way is a deeply descriptive and influential work in travel and nature writing. It records in quite exhaustive detail the trees, flowers, fields and buildings along Thomas' numerous routes through the English countryside, weaving in also the historical, literary and scholarly points of interest. He also notes his human interaction through countryside, detailing the countryfolk upon his way, and leaving the reader struck with nostalgia for the people of the past. This edition contains the original illustrations.
