Synopsis

Literal Black Girl Magic.

Alicia Banks always knew there was something different about her.
She just didn't expect the answer to be magic.

At twenty-seven, Alicia has spent years trying to figure out where she belongs. She's an irregular with abilities she barely understands—strange glimpses into people's journeys during palm readings and a connection to something she can't explain.
Then a chance encounter with the superhero Raiden changes everything.

Magic is real.
Alicia is a magi.
And apparently, being descended from legendary magic users like Circe and Solomon is only the beginning.
There's just one problem.
Alicia has absolutely no idea what kind of magi she is.

Armed with enchanted guns and considerably more determination than experience, Alicia begins exploring a supernatural world hiding in plain sight. Sorcerers practice magic behind closed doors. Golems walk among ordinary people. Vampires are real. And most humans have no idea any of them exist.
For the first time, Alicia thinks she may have found where she belongs.
So she takes the biggest leap of faith of her life:

She becomes a detective.

Her specialty? The cases involving irregulars—and the things the police don't even know exist.
But when a string of men begins disappearing across California without evidence, witnesses, or explanation, Alicia finds herself chasing a mystery even experienced investigators can't solve.
And the deeper she digs, the stranger the case becomes.
With her best friend and resident tech wizard Val at her side, Alicia will have to master magic she barely understands, navigate a hidden world she only just discovered, and trust instincts she's spent most of her life questioning.

Because the missing aren't coming home.
And if Alicia can't uncover what's taking them, someone she cares about may be next.

Magic has always been part of Alicia's story.

Now she has to decide what she's going to do with it.

Arcane Absolutions: Magi Detective is Book 1 of Arcane Absolutions, a spin-off series set within The Irregular Universe. Blending urban fantasy, supernatural mystery, magic, action, fantastical creatures, friendship, and the beginnings of an unexpected LGBTQ+ romance, Magi Detective opens the door to a side of the Irregular Universe where gods are far from the only things hiding among us.

The story can be enjoyed as a new entry point into The Irregular Universe, while readers of Raiden: Guardian of Lightning will discover connections to events and characters from the original series.
