Synopsis

"No one was about to admit a secret that could cost them everything."

New York, 1917, and Sergeant Dominic White of Detective Squad is called to investigate the brutal murder of a young black man from Harlem during an industrial dispute at the docks. The murder threatens to derail the Silent Parade, a peaceful protest against racial subjugation, while dark forces plot race riots for the city of the kind recently witnessed in Chicago.

The case is further complicated by suspects connected to a gangland war between the Five Points and Bowery Boys as well as a taboo relationship that takes White to the Italian Quarter. In the face of police corruption and his failing marriage, White strives to handle the pressure, find the killer, and save the city he loves.

The Silent Parade is the first novel in The White Knight: Tales of a New York Detective series.
