Synopsis

In the seemingly-safe confines of London’ aristocracy, a woman is attacked and left for dead. The cruelty enacted upon her shakes her deepest beliefs and nearly destroys her.

Decades later in the vermin-infested streets of the east-end, a girl suffers a vicious attack after reaching for faith at a local soup kitchen. Tormented by the evil enacted on her, she longs to influence change and begins writing exposés for a local newspaper. Determined to right the wicked wrongs she sees, her most damning exposé shatters the man she’d least expect–a man who once offered her the greatest kindness she’d ever known.

Dr. Josiah Cairns and Lady Adeleine Ashton are toppled by the ensuing furor, and find themselves at a heartbreaking impasse. As Adeleine suffers secretly with a silent, frightening illness, her hopes and dreams slip one-by-one from her grasp.

Will forgiveness be offered after all that’s been stolen? Will heaven’s mercy vanquish hell’s torment?
