The title Queen of Days is taken from a Jewish poem that honours the seventh day. It deals with the continuing importance and relevance of the most ancient religious custom in the world, the Sabbath Day. It seeks to clear away the rubble of centuries of superstition, regulation and misunderstanding, in order to rediscover the beauty, excellence and necessity of something that God called, 'very good.' It deals with the way the Sabbath was regarded in the Hebrew Scriptures and in Judaism generally. It traces the opinions of Church leaders who, over the centuries, have wavered between abolition, negligence and regulation. The book presents an argument for Sabbath observance without regulation. It also explains how the Christian day of rest moved from Saturday to Sunday and the motivation behind this decision. The central theme is based on the words of Jesus when he said, 'The Sabbath was made for man.' In other words, the Sabbath was God's idea for the benefit, well-being and spiritual development of humanity, we ignore it at our peril..
