Synopsis

It was the first of September, the day of the hunting reopening.
In a wooden shed with a window open to the forest, as in a painting, the doorway framed the green of the trees.
There was the tearing sound of the first shots and I, my eyes still swollen with tears shed for Amarena, the mother bear symbol of the Abruzzo National Park killed not twelve hours earlier, thought of those poor defenceless wild animals, hunted from one day to the next in the freedom of their home.
