Synopsis
The story of Zacchaeus teaches us that when we run ahead of the crowd and separate ourselves from the world, then we can see Christ, but remember, we must run to the right spot, the right location, and the right place to see Him. The sycamore fig tree was the right spot for Zacchaeus to see Christ. It is important to seek God’s grace for direction in our walk of salvation. Many people have missed the right path because they listened to the noise from the crowd. Some have become intimidated and abandoned their walk altogether. As a Christian, you must seek to know the direction the Lord has ordained for you because that is the route that will take us to our destiny.
The obedience to the call and the joy of receiving Christ is the recipe for our salvation. Once Zacchaeus heard and obeyed the call to come down and host Christ, things turned around in his life. He was convicted and saw the need for repentance. That is when Jesus said; “Today salvation has come to this house.” (Luke 19:9 NIV). Salvation comes to the penitent at heart, Jesus takes over your life and the Spirit of God begins the work of sanctification to a pure life.
