Synopsis

In a book that outlines a story of abuse and survival with 99 poems, award winning authopreneur and neurolingiostic programming practitioner, Devangini Mahapatra Chauhan, makes a powerful case for narcissistic abuse victims and survivors. By narrating her story with poetry, she puts the spotlight on believing false fairy tales, understanding abuse, breaking out of toxic relationships, establishing boundaries and healing from trauma.

From the Author:

Telling your story is the first step in the healing process. Believing in your happy ending, is the second.

I have written my story in two ways. In the shape of a story. And with the help of poems. When I began writing the story, I would often stop out of sheer exhaustion - sometimes even before I had started to write. Then, the facts would slip in again and a poetic rendition would begin. This is how I managed to harness the details I wanted to portray, the episodes I wanted to narrate, and finally, the message I wanted to convey.

While the poems were free flowing, they actually gave me structure and direction. And with the help of poetry, each chapter in my story came to life without the hindrance of that overwhelming sense of being wronged, of being left out in the cold, of being in the kind of excruciating pain that could basically cast a shadow on everything else in my life.

When I wrote the poems that were talking in my head, I began to heal.
